Simon Wormull made 2 changes to the side who lost 3-2 at Brightlingsea Regent last Saturday – including a start for young goalkeeper, Mitch Bromage.
The Hillians got off to an absolute flyer, as in the 6th minute, Pat Harding unleashed a venomous volley past Billy Bishop and into the back of the net. The men in green and black continued to dominate the opening exchanges, with Keano Deacon and Aaron Smith-Joseph attacking with real pace and power. In the 14th minute, Dixon came close to leveling the scores, but headed just wide of Bromage’s right hand post. In the 31st minute, the Hillians doubled their lead through Aaron Smith-Joseph, as the winger cut inside from the right before unleashing past Bishop. Just 8 minutes later, that man Smith-Joseph sent the Green Elephants’ into delirium as he pinched the ball off Adeniyi before placing his strike over Bishop to extend the Hillians’ lead to 3.
HT 3-0.
The Robins started the second half with urgency, and went close in the 48th minute through Hamilton-Downs. In the 53rd minute, the hosts grabbed a goal back through Adeniyi. The 62nd minute saw the Robins cut the deficit further, as Mendy capitalised on some poor defending. The visitors continued to throw everything at the Hillians, but Richmond and Elphick held strong. Tom Cadman, who once again was superb, continued to provide the Hillians with an outlet down the left hand side, whilst Dan Choules continued his string of consistent performances since his dual-signing from Woking. The Hillians controlled the final exchanges, keeping possession in the Carshalton half until the final whistle.
FT 3-2.
A massive three points for the Hillians, as we continue our fine home form since the appointment of Wormull and Rattle.
The Hillians MOTM was awarded to Aaron Smith-Joseph, who was simply scintillating in the first half, capping off his performance with a brace.
Thank you to all you Hillians who made it down to the Green Elephants Stadium this afternoon, we hope you enjoyed what can only be described as an ‘entertaining’ afternoon of football!
Next up, it’s derby time!
