Reggie Ward rescued the Hillians with a 90th minute equaliser as the Hillian twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Phoenix Sports.

Gary Mansell gave a debut to goalkeeper Fin Holter who has joined the Club from Eastbourne Borough and new signing, the returning Conrad Honore, went straight into the starting XI.

Hill started brightly but a shaky moment at the back almost saw the hosts in but skipper Marcus Allen was alert to clear the danger on eight minutes. Soon after, at the other end, Kieran Rowe won the ball high up and feeds Reece Hallard on the counter, he skins his man, but fires just wide.

The game was stop-start and the Sports did well down the left but saw effort fly over and it was straight down the other end as Martyn Box fed Honore whose shot was blocked, the ball fell to Hallard who forced a good save from Andy Walker.

Holter was booked on 36 minutes as he was adjudged to have handled outside the area and from the resulting free kick Allen made a tremendous goal saving block.

Harry Lawson won a free kick but Rowe smashed it over but the lead was taken by the hosts on 42 minutes as Ryan Hayes smashed the ball from 20 yards.

On the stroke of half time the Hillians should have been level as Hallard got in behind and crossed for Rowe but Walker came out and saved brilliantly to keep their lead intact going into half time.

The first chance of the second half came 11 minutes in as Box’s corner fell to Olly Hamstead who fired over. At the other end Hill lose the ball but Phoenix fail to capitalise as they fire wide.

Hillians equalised on 61 minutes as Box’s corner looped over Walker and Hamstead, at the back post, volleyed home for his first goal for the Club.

Holter denied Phoenix the lead as he saved a header and at the other end Hallard smashes a free kick which is saved by Walker but the rebound sees a scramble but the ball is not fired home.

Holter made a super fingertip save but from the resulting corner the Sports took the lead as Adejola Lahan stabbed home on 77 minutes.

The Sports couldn’t hold on to the lead though as in the 90th minute Ward tapped home to rescue a point from a cross swung in from the left.

It was Ward’s first goal of the season and sees the two sides draw for the second time this season.
