Ian Chapman made one change from the side which faced Hampton & Richmond Borough in the Emirates FA Cup last Saturday, with James Richmond replacing Tom Cadman.

Both sides started well, with the first chance falling to George Purcell, on 15 minutes, but his effort was comfortably saved by Josh James. Pope and Spence both had chances to test the respective ‘keepers, but both efforts were dealt with safely both Chafer and James. The Urchins took the lead on the half hour mark, as captain Nathan Cooper turned on a sixpence and dispatched his strike past Josh James. Just 9 minutes later, the visitors doubled their lead, as Sean Marks tucked home following a goalmouth scramble, after Charman’s header struck the rear end of Fisk, and fell straight to the feet of the forward. Both sides concluded the half with decent chances, but to no avail.

HT 0-2.

Andre McCollin was introduced early in the half to try and provide the spark for the Hillians. Pope managed to come close on 51 minutes, but he couldn’t keep his effort down. Ibrahim Diallo was next to be introduced, 9 minutes later, but it was the visitors who extended their lead, just moments later, as Lewwis Spence curled his effort into the far corner. Spence was inches away from inflicting further damage onto the Hillians, as his thunderous effort smashed against the upright – with 20 minutes left on the clock. The visitors held out, to take all three points back to Hornchurch.

FT 0-3.

The Hillians’ MOTM was awarded to Gary Elphick, who defended robustly throughout the 90 minutes.

Thank you to for your continued support, as we continue to go in search of that first league victory.

Next up, we travel to Nyewood Lane to face Bognor Regis Town, in what’s sure to be a thrilling Sussex derby!
