Hill Draw a Blank in Norfolk
The long trip to current league leaders Leiston FC was always going to be difficult one. Leiston was currently undefeated, but the Hillians always felt they had a chance to take something from the game. Ian Chapman gave a 1st team debut to 18-year-old Guy Bolton and travelled without Will Miles, Jack Brivio and Pat Harding.
The Hillians created the first chance of the game with a volley from Lee Harding after 10 mins. For the rest of the first half, the Hillians defended resolutely. Josh James was called upon to make two good saves from long range.
In the second half, the Hillians started brightly and a Lee Harding shot was well saved by Eyre to keep the home side in the game. The Hillians lion share of the possession didn’t bring the rewards it should have done and were punished with only ten minutes to go after an impressive effort from Matt Blake.
Ten mins later, the game was over with a penalty given to the home side after Josh James was penalised for taking away the forwards feet when he was already going away from goal.
It was a long journey home for Burgess Hill. However, it was a very young team on the pitch who showed lots of signs of progress which can only be built upon further in the coming weeks.
