Hillians lose to Hassocks
A healthy crowd supported the Ann John Memorial Trophy generously last night and raised £800 for St James Hospice.
Unfortunately, poor defending in the 2nd half gave the home side a 3-0 win. Hillians starting Xl had 4 trialists who looked comfortable but again the team lacked in the final 1/3 with captain for the night Scott Kirkwood, coming closest.
The second half saw Hillians make several changes and a lapse in concentration in the visitors defense saw the home team take the lead with 15 mins to go. Callum Overton had a chance to equalize but his header went wide and the home side capitalised on another mistake by the back four to make it 2-0. The home side were gifted a third when a stray pass was partially intercepted and fell to a Hassocks player to convert from 8 yards.
