Costly Early Mistakes Hurt Hillians
A poor start for the Hillians in their first home friendly on a ‘balmy’ July evening was disappointing for a good crowd at Leylands Park.
The home team were 2-0 down in 20 minutes and never really threatened the opposition goal until Brivio header went close after good work on the left by Redwood after 30 mins.
The first half ended with Hillians having more possession but lacking a ‘cutting edge’ upfront.
The introduction of Dan Pearse at half time gave the Hillians more stability in midfield with Fraser and Brivio being more influential in the final 1/3. Another defensive mistake saw the ball given away and was converted by South Park with 15 mins to go. Curtis Gayler came closest to scoring with a 25 yard effort well saved by the South Park keeper. Hillians Josh James made two good saves at the end of the game that ended 0-3 to the visitors.
The Hillians play Hassocks away next Tues 26/7 – 7.45pm KO.
