The young Albion side made all the early running and it took a fabulous Harry Pollard goal-line clearance to keep the scores level early on. As the first half settled down and progressed, Brighton were restricted to a few speculative attempts from distance rather than clear cut chances, as a couple in quick succession sailed over Taylor Seymour’s crossbar without troubling him. He was called into action soon after though, some intricate Albion football led to a one-on-one which Seymour saved impressively. Down the other end, the Hill were beginning to stir offensively, a deep corner found its way to Andrew Herring but he couldn’t get his effort on target. The chance of the first half fell to the Hillians, a wicked Josh Luther free kick landed at the feet of George Brown but from 6 yards out and the goal gaping he somehow put it over the bar. Last time we faced a team of Brighton youngsters, Jordi Ndozid got on the score sheet and he almost did the same again. Brilliant fancy footwork in the midfield to get past both Albion central midfielders but his shot on goal was just a bit too high. With 5 minutes to until half-time, the Hill were awarded a penalty. Excellent work from Daniel Akinwunmi to win the ball back high up the pitch, he drove into the box and was clearly upended for a spot kick. Max Miller stepped up and send the keeper the wrong way to open the scoring, much to the delight of the 558 in attendance! Taylor Seymour once again had to be alert straight from kick off as Brighton got in behind but they still could not find a way past the Hillians number 1.

HT: 1-0.

The second half started similarly to the first half, with Taylor Seymour making splendid saves! This was the best of the lot, a shot from an Albion youngster was destined for goal until Seymour sprung to his right and palmed it away one handed. The second 45 was a much quieter affair than the first, substitutes from both sides stopping any real flow to the game. Brighton were pushing for an equaliser and they would of got it had it not been for another great Seymour save. Into the last 10 minutes and we almost doubled our lead, the familiar Trialist played a neat one two with Elliot Cross but he couldn’t keep his effort down from the edge of the area. We almost wrapped things up in the 90th minute, excellent work from Reggie Ward down the right hand side, he whipped a ball onto the head of Reece Williams-Bowers who saw his header crash back off the crossbar and away.
