After making his first start since the end of last season, Dan Beck’s afternoon was over before it had even began, as he was forced off after just six minutes – being replaced by Michael Wilson. The first real chance of the game fell to former Hillian, Tadley Bromage, but his headed effort didn’t trouble Josh James. In the 24th minute, Mason Doughty and Aaron Smith-Joseph both came close to giving the Hillians the lead – but their strikes both fell wide of the target. In the 38th minute, Dean Gunner produced a goal-saving block to deny ASJ and ensured that the teams went into the break at level pegging.

Jay Lovett’s side started the second period brightly, with Max Miller’s strike deflected over within minutes of the restart. The game became to grow increasingly open, with both sides enjoying spells of possession. Seventeen minutes from time, Miller found himself caught in two minds and eventually his shot failed to trouble the Bridges stopper – with substitute, Alfie Rogers unmarked inside the area. Perhaps the best, and final, chance of the ninety fell to another Hillians substitute, Charlie Pitcher; who’s header somehow missed the target with the goal left gaping.

It’s another point gained for the Hillians, but they will be left disappointed with missed opportunities on an afternoon where they would have wanted to pick up all three.

An absolutely incredible away following from you Hillians – who must have made up over half of the overall attendance! Thank you for your continued support.

Next up, we host the Albion!
