In horrid conditions, the game started at a frantic pace, with Scott Kirkwood opening the scoring after just five minutes – capitalising on a defensive error. However, the visitors equalised instantaneously, as Denzel Gayle found the back of the net. Pat Harding and O’Shaye Giraud-Hutchinson both came close to restoring the Hillians’ lead, before Josh James was called into action, blocking two Warren Mfula strikes in quick succession. The half came to an eventful close with Drew Matthews forcing a fabulous save from the Millers stopper.

The visitors passed up two guilt-edge opportunities to take the lead within seconds of the second half – as Mfula and Josh James both struck the woodwork from inside the area. Hillians keeper, Josh James was once again in the firing line, as he produced a succession of fine saves to keep the scores locked. It was the Millers who took the lead, on 56 minutes, as Michael A-Warren finally got the better of James with a tidy finish. The Hillians responded well and got their reward twenty minutes from time, as substitute, Erivaldo Felix headed home expertly from Ryan Palmer’s cross. Tom Cadman, then, produced a fine goal-line clearance to keep the Hillians level, but his efforts proved to be in vain, as Denzel Gayle doubled his talley, five minutes from time, to give the visitors all three points.

The thoroughly disappointing result for the Hillians, in a game in which they were full value for at least a point.
