The game got off to a nightmare start for Simon Wormull’s men, as Josh Spencer gave the visitors the lead inside eight minutes. Aaron Millbank, then, passed up a golden opportunity to extended his side’s lead just moments later – heading against the post from close range. The Hillians grew into the game and two minutes before half-time had their equaliser. Aaron Smith-Joseph smartly working himself some space before fizzing in a low delivery which was turned home by the sliding Erivaldo Felix.
After a slow start to the second half, Hill took the lead through Charlie Bennett, as the full back headed home from Junior Baker’s audacious assist. Just six minutes later, Warren Mfula made it three as he ghosted in at the back post. The Hillians continued to take off the handbreak, as Felix, Mfula and Michael Wilson all passed up the chance to extend the lead further. It was in-fact the visitors who pulled a goal back in the dying embers, but Wormull’s men held firm to pick up a valuable three points.
The Hillians MOTM was awarded to Charlie Bennett, who was defensively excellent all afternoon and popped up with an all important goal.
A massive thank you to every single one of you Hillians who turned out to support the club yesterday afternoon. Along with our volunteers, you are the heartbeat of our football club.
