Goals from David Smith & Jake McIntyre were enough to give the Nuts & Bolts all three points at Homelands.
Another defensive error gave the host’s the lead on 15 minutes. With five minutes remaining in the first half, the Hillians were reduced to 10 as Tolulope Jonah received his marching orders for a handball inside the area. However, Billy Collings produced a fine save to keep the score at one. Collings’ efforts were in vain, as on the stroke of half time, Jake McIntyre stuck his effort in the top corner from 25-yards out.
The Hillians came out fighting in the second half and on another day could have easily left with a point – with Sam Mott producing a string of fine saves in between the sticks.
Thank you to Ashford United for your hospitality yesterday afternoon – good luck for the rest of the season.
A massive thank you to all of you Hillians who travelled to support to club. Your efforts so far this campaign have been outstanding.
Next up, Velocity Trophy time!
