Ashford Women 6 BHTFC Women
Our new Womens squad traveled to Homelands stadium Ashford to compete in the Womens Isthmian Cup. The hosts operate three levels above and have Fulham plus Millwall in their division.
As heavy rain fell on a splendid artificial surface Ashford produced a fast start with a fine headed opener. Just moments later the right winger produced a stunning cross shot which flew past a diving Hill keeper, the ball nestling top corner of the net.
In the 15th min Ashford booked their passage with back to back strikes. They completed a good half by adding a 5th goal on HT.
Hill never gave up and ran their hearts out for the full 90 mins. They chased a lot of lost causes and made a lot of fine tackles all over the park. Heads never dropped for a moment and they showed respect to the officials (who were excellent throughout). Ashford were restricted to the single 2nd half goal.
Manager Tom Clingo said post match ‘ Of course we understand the levels so there is no shame in losing here today. We did some soul searching at HT and we stepped it up in the 2nd half. We are very proud to represent BHTFC and want to do the best we can. I was pleased of that 2nd half performance’
Huge thanks to Ashford for hosting good luck in the next round. A shout out to all the travelling fans especially Jazz Ellie and Luke who made the trek by train. Our Womens team would have learnt a lot from the experience and will be able to take that with them to Uckfield Fc on Sunday 2pm when back in league action.
