Our exciting new Women’s team start their league campaign on 8th September away to Oakwood 2pm KO. Manager Tom Clingo suggests ‘the team really appreciate the vocal support so why not make a date and come and cheer us on!’

In their last preseason match against the Seagals BHTFC took a while to get going but eventually turned on the style to suggest that a polished performance is just around the corner. On a humid afternoon at the Homecall it was the Seagals who looked the more likely as they hit long balls towards the club house end. Midway through the 1st half they punctured the offside trap to produce an accurate cross from the right. Their centre forward was on hand to tap home.

Hill were suddenly shaken from slumber and produced a couple of neat forays forward. On the stroke of half time, they were correctly awarded a spot kick towards the Ashley Carr stand end. The ball was struck well enough but agonisingly it cannoned off the bar and away to safety.

Perhaps the most important lesson learnt was starting well after the break.  Seagals came out of the dressing room and were two nil up very quickly.  However, with Megan introduced into the action Hill started to believe in their talents and became the dominate force.  The ball was recycled well, and the team enjoyed possession in the final third. After a couple of near misses there was no surprise when Elana beat the on-rushing keeper and smashed home to halve the deficit.  Moments later a goal bound shot was saved well by the keeper.  From the corner Hill got in again but a bouncing ball was lifted over the bar.  With Hill pressing for a deserved equaliser Seagals benefitted from the sucker punch and made it three one on time.

Tom said later ‘I am a little disappointed as we were expecting to be better today.  Its pleasing that we came back into the game. However, it’s a bit of a reality check!’

Bowman says ‘I really do think this team could fly this season. They will need to be strong from the 1st kick and have confidence in their skills and fitness levels. When the team is freely moving the ball forward, they look dangerous with every attack and will score goals.  I am sure we wish our Women’s team all the best and good luck at Oakwood on Sunday. Let’s get an early league win on the board!’
