The two sides met at Church Road, Whyteleafe on Saturday where Rob O’Toole headed the Hillians into a 25th minute lead but the hosts levelled right at the death through Charlie Martin (read Jack Naldrett’s full report HERE and view Chris Neal’s match pictures HERE)
Speaking on Saturday’s game Manager Dean Cox said “I thought both teams dealt well with the conditions as to be honest at points it was horrible, so windy and hammering down with rain”.
“I feel we started well, kept the ball well, created some half chances and the goal we scored was very good. A great cross from Reece Hallard and Chief (O’Toole) finishing it with a world class header that took us into half time”.
“I wanted us to keep the ball a bit better. Individual mistakes at times were costing us and giving them some momentum when we really didn’t need to do so”.
“We had a couple of chances to make it a bit more comfortable but there goalkeeper made two unbelievable saves to be fair to him to keep them in it. Then with thirty seconds to go we give a silly free kick away which was so avoidable and of course we don’t deal with the cross and they score which was gutting”.
“On reflection I feel maybe a draw was fair, but when you were winning for that long it was a hard one to take. But there were lots of positives to take into the replay. We will dust ourselves down and we will go again. At home with our fans I’m hoping for more of the same but being more ruthless in both boxes”
The winner of the tie will be at home on Saturday 19th August to either Erith Town or Hassocks who also drew 1-1 on Saturday and will replay Tuesday evening as well.
