The contractors are making excellent progress on the new 3G pitch at Leylands Park. Following the levelling up and the concrete stabilisation process – a number of drainage channels were cut into the surface and new drainage pipe laid connecting to the main drain in the north of the stadium. At the end of last week a membrane was laid on the pitch and we started to receive the multiple lorry loads of limestone aggregate which is to form the next layer of our pitch – this stage should be completed by the end of this week. Large ditches are being dug around the perimeter of the pitch in preparation for the new pitch side fencing and electrical ducting which is expected to be installed over the new two weeks.
In order for the new 3G to be level, the north east section of the pitch has been raised ; and because we still want fans to be able to watch to game from all sides of the ground – work will be carried in the next few weeks to build out the levels for spectator access. In the next few weeks we are also expecting to say goodbye to the four floodlight poles which have served Leylands park for so many years. We are still aiming for an end of August completion ahead of our first home league game in September.
Tom Welfare and his team have very busy too. They have replaced the ceiling in the Hillians bar, installed a new disabled toilet in the function room, a new disabled ramp at the back of the building, new fencing to the west of the ground (more about that area to come in future updates).
Terry has replaced the damaged floor in the gentleman’s toilets and Home Call Carpets have provided a new floor covering for it.
The Monday Club volunteers have started work on redecorating the function room – removing the wallpaper and painting the walls with lighter colours which give that room a lift.
