Burgess Hill Town began their pre-season campaign with a trip to Steyning as preparations build towards the Hillians return to the Isthmian Premier division.
Hill had already gone close through Chris Whelpdale who had an effort saved before a cross to the far post found Josh Spinks who volleyed the ball home.
Hill continued to create chance as Jaden Perez hit an effort wide. Mitch Bromage in the Steyning goal made a couple of good saves to deny the Hill. He saved from Whelpdale, Martyn Box and Brannon O’Neill.
Hill made plenty of changes at the break and Box added a second early in the second half to double Hill’s advantage.
Tom Chalaye and Box both had chances before Ben Pope added Hill’s third on 62 minutes.
Jake King made it four on 75 minutes and two minutes later he got his second and the fifth as he latched onto a back heel from Noah Hoffman and volleyed it first time into the top corner.
Hoffman was denied a sixth near the end as the Hill got their pre-season up and running and got some valuable minutes in the tank.
