Our U18s moved up to 3rd place in the Isthmian South division with a battling win over Three Bridges at a mild Home Call Carpets Community Stadium.
The game took a while to get going as both teams were guilty of some wayward passes. Midway through Hill suddenly found some rytham forcing a number of corners. On 35 mins a brilliant cross from the right caused all sorts of chaos in the Bridges box. Hoffman hit a wonderful shot which the keeper parried. Charlie Bonwick Adams was first to react scoring the perfect poachers goal. However right on HT a mistake at the back allowed Bridges a soft equaliser.
Hill were hugely improved in the 2nd half. They were a yard quicker and far more snappy in the tackle. It meant they found a lot more space down both wings. The game was awash with Hill corners. Each one was delivered with pace and accuracy.
The Bridges dam had to break and on 70 mins Kai Birchley was on hand head home the winner at the back post.
Hill held on to a narrow Three points.
Joint Manager Berty Oliva said later ‘fair play to both teams it was a good game but I thought we were excellent and deserved the win, I was pleased for Kai getting up at the back post it was a good goal!’
Our U18s have three games left the next on 10th April at home to Whitehawk.
