Burgess Hill Town FC had a few Hillians legends back at the ground on Saturday afternoon as the Hill produced a smash and grab win over Phoenix Sports.
Members of Alan Pook’s squads from the 1996-1999 era where the Hillilans won the Sussex County League three times running, the league cup (twice) and the floodlit cup were reunited back at Leylands Park where they enjoyed so much success.
Pook was joined by former Hillian greats such as skipper Daren Newman, Ashley Carr, Mickey Farmer, Paul Thomsett, Adie Downey, Paul Willliams and Rene Duchossoy. They met at the ground early and had a catch up and some food before being welcomed out onto the pitch prior to kick off and then stayed to watch the Hillians win.
The former Hillians hadn’t just travelled from Sussex as ex-coach Dave O’Brien came in from Ireland for the weekend whilst Tony Flower had come back to the UK from California where he has lived for the last 15 years.
It was great to see them all back at Leylands Park and we look forward to seeing them all again soon.
