Managers Berty Oliva and Adie Clayton will still harbour Title hopes this season however that task was made tougher after a disappointed reverse at the league leaders.
After a strong start to the game by Hill, The Rebels were given a soft lead with an unfortunate own goal mid way through the 1st half. That seem to signal an implosion of confidence as Hill were guilty of miss placed passes and tackles in the middle. It led to Worthing time and space to in the final third. The striker was allowed to forge into the penalty box to slot the 2nd. A third quickly followed. Three one at HT.
The hosts wrapped up the points early in the 2nd half as they scored a 4th goal. To their credit Hill fought back with some positive raids as Luca Oliva helped himself to a brace. In truth though the six goals were no fluke on an evening to forget for our young team.
Thanks to Worthing U18s for hosting and producing a nice tea for the playing staff. Good luck for the remainder and we look forward to your visit to Mid Sussex later in the season. Berty told waiting media ‘Adie and I will take a day or two analyse this one. We just weren’t good enough on the day and Worthing were far more hungry in that 1st half’ As to the South title he added robustly ‘we are still in the title race and we go to the Pan in good heart’
The squad are back in league action at Lewes 7.30 ko on Thursday 6th February. Make a date!
