Our new Women’s team, under Manager Tom Clingo enjoyed a wonderful evening here in Mid Sussex in their 1st home preseason friendly.  A sizable crowd gathered under stunning skies and dry conditions adding to the excitement.

Our new Women’s squad have been in training since early June but last night they went into battle for the first time against a skilful EB side.  Hill got off to a great start with some close and accurate passes in the midfield. The right winger made two excellent forays first pinging in a brilliant cross and then passing to the striker who shot narrowly wide.  Midway through the 1st half the EB striker showed great pace to break free and score.  Hill continued to play good football trying to get on terms.  However, on the stroke of half time EB scored their second.

Hill continued great football early in the 2nd half and then Brogan Kirk produced our champagne moment. The midfielder picked up the ball 25 yards from goal and let fly to score the best goal of the match.  However, EB demonstrated their obvious higher level during the later stages scoring another four goals.  The match ending six one to the visitors.

Clingo said later ‘It was brilliant to get the squad out on that pitch for the 1st time and for 70 mins I was very proud of how progressed as a team.  However, EB did take the game away from us so we will need to work on our fitness and approach. The team really enjoyed playing in front of a crowd so thank you too everyone who came out’  He hinted ‘we will be looking to play attacking attractive football as the season progresses which we hope fans will enjoy’ Going forward Tom suggested ‘we cant wait for the fixture list to come out, the 1st league game will be on Sunday 8th September and we hope it will be here at home’

Bowman said ‘Huge welcome to BHTFC Women’s team.  If last evening was anything to go by we are in for some fantastic Sunday afternoons both here in Mid Sussex and on the road. You guys showed grit and determination against a very good EB squad. The Women’s team are now very much part of the Club so let’s go and have a great season!’
