Our clubhouse was a hive of activity last evening as a high number of connections gathered to welcome both the Mens and New Women’s Teams. After high tempo training sessions everyone gathered back in the bar to watch England top their group in Euro 2024.
At 6pm players gathered and changed into their fantastic new purple training tops. They participated in a team meeting given by joint Managers Gary Mansell and Jay Lovett. Gary introduced all the Volunteers to the group.
By 6.45 our Men’s team were on the back pitch participating in their 1st training session of the new season. It looked like the boys were having a lot of fun out there in the warm sunshine.
Meanwhile no less than 27 Women turned up for their latest training session under BHTFCs Women’s team ManagersTom Clingo and Jacob Bennett. We are very excited at the prospect of supporting our new Women’s team this season. The squad will be playing in the 2nd tier of Sussex County on Sunday afternoons. Their season starts in September, andthey will enjoy circa 18 league matches both at the HomecallCarpet Community Stadium and around Sussex. We will be keeping a close eye on their progress.
By 8pm everyone was back in the Clubhouse settling to England v Slovenia. Our boys eventually topping the group and progressing to the last 16.
There might not have been any England goals to cheer but there was a clear feel-good factor amongst the group. Training sessions will no doubt get a lot tougher as the summer progresses, but it was an excellent opportunity to see most of our players operating on the same field.
The countdown the 24/25 continues!
