Burgess Hill Town finished their season with a 2-0 victory over relegated Beckenham Town in front of an excellent crowd of 545 in a match sponsored by Bennett Oakley Solicitors. The win saw the Hillians jump two places and finish the season in 12th place.

The Hill started brightly and a cross from the left found Tahjae Anderson but it was deflected wide. Reece Hallard also had an effort go wide soon after.

Fin Holter made a good save to deny Finley Roberts as the Becks grew more into the game. At the other end though a well worked free kick resulted in Anderson curling just wide.

The visitors then smacked the post as Rhys Wyborn’s low shot smacked the post and the danger was cleared. Hillians Reggie Ward bombed forward but his shot was easily matched by Nick Blue. Straight down the other end and the Becks had the ball in the net but the linesman was quick to raise his flag for offside and the Reds ended the half strongly as they again hit the woodwork.

The rain was pouring in the second half but the Hillians started brightly and Hallard struck wide before the Hill took the lead on 51 minutes.

A free kick came in from the right and Lewis Taylor’s effort was brilliantly saved by Blue but the ball falls perfectly for Anderson to smash the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

The Becks looked for a response and Holter palmed away Roberts’ low free kick. The game then went into a period of few chances for either side as the constant rain poured down and the spectators looked to find cover anywhere they could.

Hallard had an effort fly over before the Hillians wrapped up the victory in the 90th minutes with a super goal by Kieran Rowe who volleyed past Blue.
