The Hillians suffered defeat on the road as Chichester City made it seven games unbeaten with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Burgess Hill Town.
Jimmy Wild had the hosts first chance early on as he raced clear but put his effort wide in the first minute. The Hillians responded as Jay Beckford crossed for Dan Perry who scooped over a minute later.
A good move down the left involving Martyn Box, Harry Lawson and Noah Hoffman saw the Hillians go close when the trio combined resulting in Hoffman firing over.
Young keeper Elliot Dailly made a good save to deny Wild at the second attempt following a good cross from the left and Wild again went close, this time a cross from the right, was hooked over from close range by the front man.
The hosts did take a deserved lead on 28 minutes when a long throw caused chaos and following a good save from Dailly, Emmett Dunn was the quickest to react to open the scoring.
Chichester were on top and Wild again went close before he finally got his name on the scoresheet on 39 minutes to double the lead when he tapped home.
Hillians nearly pulled one back just before the break as Kieran Rowe burst through but saw his shot saved, the rebound fell to Beckford who could only volley wide.
Hoffman fired over for the first chance of the second half but Chichester wrapped up the game on 52 minutes when they added a third as Joe Clarke curled the ball into the net.
Perry nodded over a Beckford cross and at the other end Wild should have made it four but he tapped over from six yards.
The hosts saw out the game comfortably as they remain in the playoffs but the Hillians will look to bounce back from recents results when we host Sheppey United on Tuesday night.
