1-1

Burgess Hill Town drew their third league match in a row after drawing 1-1 with Littlehampton Town in front of a crowd of 451 which included 22 players and officials from Norwegian side Sunde IL who were enjoying a day with the Hillians whilst in the UK.

Manager Dean Cox gave a debut to Under 18’s striker Alex Brewer whilst goalkeeper Taylor Seymour returned from injury making his first appearance since the middle of September.

It was the debutant striker, Brewer, who had the first effort but he sliced his shot over after just three minutes and soon after Nic D’Arienzo headed a corner over the bar.

Hill continued their bright start and nearly took the lead when Marcel Powell did brilliantly down the left and Mo Jammeh, Brewer and Darren Budd all had shots blocked.

Seymour made a comfortable save just after the half hour mark but it was the Hillians who had the majority of possession but struggled to create in the final third.

Just before halftime Brewer nearly hit a debut goal as he was slipped through and did well to hold off a defender but he clipped the top of the bar with his effort.

HIllians who had struggled to break down the Golds defence got off to the worst possible start in the second half as Brad Dolaghan gave the visitors lead when he headed past Seymour from an excellent delivery from the left.

As the fog really came down, the Hill continued to have plenty of possession but couldn’t create a great deal, Kieran Rowe had an effort from 30 yards but with 16 minutes to go Hill hit the crossbar again when Reggie Ward headed against the woodwork.

With four minutes remaining the Hillians were given a lifeline when sub Dan Perry was felled in the box and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. Rob O’Toole stepped up and Lewis Boughton saved with his legs only for Perry to react the quickest running in and he nodded the ball home for a deserved equaliser much to the delight of the Hillians faithful behind the goal and their new Scandinavian friends.

Hillians: Taylor Seymour, Reggie Ward (Joe Overy 78), Nic D’Arienzo, Darren Budd (Finn Daniels-Yeoman 77), Marcus Allen, Zack Lawrence, Rob O’Toole, Kieran Rowe, Alex Brewer (Dan Perry 64), Mo Jammeh, Marcel Powell. Subs not used: Harry Lawson & Dylan Hurst.
