For the fourth league game running Burgess Hill Town drew as the Hillians made a long midweek trek to Sheppey United.

It was the hosts who had the first effort but Taylor Seymour made a good low save. Hillians grew into the game and after 19 minutes Marcel Powell did well down the left, beating his man and whipped in a cross which almost looped in.

Seymour made another good save as James Bessey-Saldanha fired a shot which Seymour saved for a corner. At the other end Rob O’Toole fired over from 25 yards after Nic D’Arienzo had done well to win the ball.

Hillians played some lovely football on 31 minutes as Mo Jammeh sprung the offside trap and burst down the right but his cross failed to find Dan Perry who was arriving in the middle.

Perry did have a good chance as O’Toole played in the forward and from the angle he couldn’t slip it past Aiden Prall in the Sheppey goal.

Hill were creating chances but failing to convert and after 37 minutes a last ditch interception prevented Reggie Ward a tap in.

Powell was denied a potential goal of the season candidate as he cut in from the left and forced Prall to tip behind but the half finished goalless.

The second half saw the Hill continue where they left off as Powell had a shot blocked and Kieran Rowe had an effort go wide.

On 52 minutes the Hillians had the ball in the back of the net after Perry scored a rebound after O’Toole’s effort was saved but the linesman had his flag up.

Down the other end Sheppey fizzed a cross which also caught Seymour out as the hosts started to get more into the half and Seymour was again called into action tipping over a long range effort.

Hill did have a great chance but Prall denied Perry again and Jammeh slammed the rebound into a home defender. Powell was also denied by Prall again and with 12 minutes remaining in form U18’s striker Alex Brewer was brought on as the Hill searched for a winner.

The chances came for both sides as Ward smashed over from 25 yards and Perry also struck over whilst at the other end a cross was somehow missed at the far post.

With two minutes remaining Perry found Rowe who slipped in Brewer but he smashed the crossbar and two minutes later Hill were down to 10 men as Seymour was sent off for a last man tackle and striker Perry went in goal where he produced a brilliant save at the death to protect a well earned point for the Hillians.
