Burgess Hill Town FC supporters were joined at the HomeCall Carpets Community Stadium on Saturday by a group of players and officials from a Norwegian football team as they joined the Hillians supporters to make some noise supporting the Hill.
Sunde IL were visiting the UK as part of an annual trip which sees them watch a game of football wherever they go and they made their presence felt around the ground brilliantly adding to the atmosphere of the day.
The Norwegian side have recently finished their season where they finished ninth and have previously visited other countries around Europe including Germany, Denmark and Holland as part of an annual end of season trip.
They arrived at the ground soon after 12 and headed straight to the club shop buying Hillians merchandise including shirts, scarves and hats before heading to the bar for a few refreshments as they prepared to watch the Hill.
They banged the drum and sang loudly throughout the game standing behind the goal with the Hillians supporters as the Hill drew 1-1 thanks to Dan Perry’s late equaliser.
The day wasn’t over as they enjoyed a meal after the game in the Clubhouse and stayed throughout the evening to watch the live music by local band ‘The 100 Monkeys’
Of the brilliant day Chairman Vince Alfieri said “Thanks to everyone that organised Sunde IL visit last Saturday, it was great to see so many people having fun and enjoying themselves. Was a great experience to meet the team from Sunde IL and we hope to see them again in the future”.
We really hope the guys from Sunde IL enjoyed their day with us, they certainly made it a memorable one. We will definitely be looking out for their results in the future as we made some new friends from Norway – and who knows, the Hillians might even head over there to watch a game in the future.
