Burgess Hill Town FC welcomed high flying Sittingbourne FC to the Home Call Carpets Community Stadium and battled hard to gain a point against the second place Brickies.

After Tuesday’s loss at Horndean manager Dean Cox will have been pleased with his side’s performance.

Ayman El-Moghaebel had the first chance of note when he headed wide before he opened the scoring with a diving header after Bagusan Graham’s huge throw was helped on at the near post.

It only took five minutes before the Hill were level as striker Rob O’Toole netted his seventh goal of the season.

Lewis Finney produced a couple of brilliant touches before slipping in Kieron Pamment. He was thwarted by a great challenge but the loose ball was picked up by O’Toole who calmly slotted home.

The second half was a tight affair but Mo Jammeh saw his effort fly over after a great bursting run by Jack Taylor.

At the other end Taylor blocked a goalbound effort. Bourne’s long throws were causing problems but Hillians defended well and Shaw was rarely troubled as both sides battled hard for a point each.
