Burgess Hill Town picked up an excellent three points to beat fourth in the table Sevenoaks on Tuesday night at the Home Call Carpets Community Stadium.
Manager Dean Cox made one change with Dan Perry coming into the starting XI, following his equaliser in Saturday’s draw away to Hythe, for Marcel Powell.
The first half was a very cagey affair with a lack of chances for both sides. The best chance of the first half came when Kieran Rowe got in behind down the left, pulled the ball back for Kieron Pamment but Amadou Tangara made a good save at the near post.
The second half continued in much the same vein but the Hillians took the lead in the 56th minute.
Dan Perry was the goalscorer, his 51st for the Hillians and third this season, as he pounced on a loose ball from a corner and smashed home.
The visitors huffed and puffed but struggle to create anything clear cut and the Hill nearly wrapped up the game when Rowe capitalised on a loose ball and slipped in Rob O’Toole but Rian Bray cleared his effort off the line.
It didn’t matter though as the Hillians very professionally saw out this six minutes of added time and record a big midweek victory.
All in all it was an excellent victory over a well organised side and the Hillians can go into the next game full of confidence.
Hillians: James Shaw, Reggie Ward, Martyn Box (Nic D’Arienzo 71), Jack Taylor (Finn Daniels-Yeoman 80), Marcus Allen, Josh Spinks, Rob O’Toole, Kieran Rowe, Dan Perry (Marcel Powell 67), Kieron Pamment, Mo Jammeh. Not used: Darren Budd, Curtis Gayler.
