It’s back like it never left.

I remember quite vividly Max Miller scoring an injury time winner at Three Bridges in late April, with Chris Neal capturing some of his finest work to boot. And yet here we are. On the cusp of a new start. The 2022/23 Isthmian South East division is ready to depart the station but where will it’s end destination be come April 23rd?…

Pre-season is now a mere thing of the past (rejoice!) but actually for the Hillians, it was a rather pleasant summer of friendlies. 7 matches, 6 wins and just the one defeat. 20 goals with 10 different goalscorers. A lot for messers Lovett and Bubb to be encouraged about ahead of the new campaign.

Our visitors from the Garden of England are no strangers to facing us on the opening day, as we travelled to Homelands on the opening day last season with the Nuts and Bolts winning 3-1. We were lucky enough to visit Ashford twice last season as they conquered us again, this time in the Velocity Trophy. It was a case of 3rd time lucky for Hill when Ashford visited our place as the Hill ran out 2-0 winners that afternoon. Pre-season for the Kentish Greens hasn’t particularly gone according to plan only picking up a solitary win but we all know that summer friendlies are about much more than the result on the day. Ashford will be represented by a familiar face as former Hillians striker Michael Uwezu has made the move from Mid Sussex to Ashford for this season.

If we briefly cast our minds back to the season just passed, Ashford United were only a game away from beginning life in a completely new division. They got to the play off final where they fell to Herne Bay and no doubt Tommy Warrilows men will be vying to go one step beyond this time around. For Burgess Hill, it was a case of what if. Had it not been for a very slow start to last season, the Hillians would of finished amongst those priced play offs. A superb second half of the season saw us narrowly miss out and finish 7th.

Jo and Katie’s BOTN Tea Hut will be open throughout the afternoon, be sure to give them a visit! Please note they will only be accepting CASH payments.

Saturday’s match is sponsored by George and Gary On Tour.

Please arrive at the More Than Tyres Stadium early to avoid queuing in the lead up to kick off!

We cannot wait to welcome you back to paradise for what is certain to be a (very hot) and very pulsating season opener.
