It was a very quiet start in Surrey with the first chance producing the first goal. Max Miller robbed the Chips in midfield, broke away, and calmly slotted in Lewis Taylor who placed his effort from the edge of the box into the bottom corner. Chipstead were almost level with their first shots of the game, but our Trialist goalkeeper produced a very smart double save to preserve the lead. It wasn’t long before the hosts levelled, a threaded pass through the defence was cooly swept home first time to leave the Hill keeper no chance. Chances were few and far between during the first 45 but Jordi Ndozid did set one up for a Trialist towards the end of the first half but he curled his effort just wide.
HT: 1-1.
The Hillians started the second half just like our away kit – bright! Lewis Taylor struck a fierce volley which was straight at the keeper, however just a minute later, we were back in front. From a corner, George Brown reacted quickest after Pat Harding’s effort was saved, and stabbed the ball home to put us back in front. Much like the first half, chances were at a premium, Taylor having another shot from range, this time not troubling the home keeper. Our defence withstood some late Chipstead pressure as the Hillians managed the game very well to see out another away victory this pre-season.
FT: 1-2.
Two from two so far for Jay Lovett’s men.
Next up, we welcome Football League side Crawley Town to the More Than Tyres Stadium for our first home friendly!
