In terrential conditions, the Hillians suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Whitehawk.
- Rogers (48')
- Walsh (50')
The first half started in a fairly cagey manner, with both sides struggling to stamp any authority on the game. Max Miller and Scott Kirkwood both passed up half chances to open the scoring – with clear-cut opportunities looking as if they’d be at a premium all afternoon. Rhyle Ovenden had the hosts’ only real chance of the half, but the midfielder blasted his effort over the crossbar.
The second half got off to the worst possible start for the Hillians, with the Hawks scoring twice in two minutes – both from long throw-ins. O’Shaye Giraud-Hutchinson and Pat Harding both came within inches of drawing the Hillians back into the game, but it was proving to be one of those afternoons – as the home side held out to claim all three points.
A massive thank you to every single one of you Hillians who braved the elements to support the club yesterday afternoon – you are a credit to our football club.
Next up, it’s Senior Cup time.
