The game started at a slow pace, with the first real chance falling to the Hillians, as Aaron Smith-Joseph’s low cross was inches away from finding Warren Mfula. In the 19th minute, Briggs smashed his effort against the foot of the post following a hefty goal mouth scramble. Just two minutes later, Pat Harding saw his left-footed strike fly agonisingly over the crossbar. The visitors’ first real chance came in the 29th minute, as former Hillian, Chris Smith somehow failed to convert from six yards out.
HT 0-0.
The Hornets took the lead in the 54th minute, as Smith rounded Mitch Bromage and rolled into the empty net. Simon Wormull introduced Charlie Bennett and Marco Correia – the latter returning following a lengthy absence through injury. Correia almost made an instant impact, as he almost got onto the end of Mfula’s fizzing cross. The visitors’ doubled their lead in the 63rd minute, as Lea Dawson slotted home following a long ball forward. Correia and Mfula both tested the Horsham stopper, in quick succession, but to no avail – as the game came to a close.
FT 0-2.
Another good run out for the Hillians as we edge closer to the start of our Isthmian League South East Division season.
Thank you to Horsham for the friendly and good luck in your return to the Premier Division.
Once again, a great turnout from you Hillians supporters – we hope to see you all back for our season opener on the 17th!
