Simon Wormull’s men started the game brilliantly, with some stunning football on show. Within the opening ten minutes, Charlie Bennett, Aaron Smith-Joseph and Pat Harding had all threaten the hosts’ goal. In the 17th minute, Tolulope Jonah saw his close-range effort cannon back off the post following ASJ’s teasing corner. However, it was the hosts who took the lead in the 38th minute, as a lovely move down the left flank was finished off with aplomb.

HT 1-0.

Once again, the Hillians dominated the opening exchanges and drew level through Tom Cadman, as the full back finished off a stunning Hillians’ move. Against the run of play, the hosts regained their lead, once again catching the Hillians out down the left. Moments later, half-time substitute, Andrew Briggs’ free-kick rattled the crossbar from distance. As is the norm during pre-season, the Gaffer rang the changes throughout the second half – ensuring all squad members received valuable minutes ahead of the season. The hosts extended their lead twice in quick succession to close the game out.

FT 4-1.

Not the result the Hillians would have wanted, but, more importantly, valuable minutes for the squad as our pre-season draws to a close.

Hopefully, Simon Wormull will have a full strength squad available to him ahead of our Isthmian League South East Division curtain raiser in ten days time.

Thank you to Chipstead for hosting us and good luck for your upcoming season.

The support from you Hillians has been fantastic all pre-season and we have no doubt that you’ll continue this trend throughout the forthcoming campaign!
