“I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Simon Wormull to be the First Team Head Coach with immediate effect.

When I invited applicants for the role of First Team Head Coach, I had little idea that I would receive applications of such a high caliber.

I have spent the week going through the impressive C.V.’s of some well known football people, and it was not easy to differentiate between them. However, Simon had the good fortune to be able to demonstrate his capability by running the side in an interim capacity after Ian Chapman’s departure, and in so doing made the case for getting the job on a permanent basis very difficult to ignore.

I also had regard to the possibility that a change of management at this time, when we are still in a precarious position in the league, might have been unsettling and disruptive to the playing squad.

Consequently, the decision to appoint Simon as the new First Team Head Coach seemed to me to be the right one, and I’m sure all our supporters will join me in wishing him good luck in this role.”
