Last night’s friendly against Eastbourne Borough FC ended in a goalless draw. Both teams played some good football in front of a crowd of 211 at The Green Elephants Stadium.
Read Chappers’ reaction, and a pre-season update:
After the events of the final game of last season, it’s been great to have a prolonged break. It was nice to get back to work, and our first friendly last night at home to Eastbourne Borough. Pre – season is not about results, but about getting minutes into the players legs, and for us to hit the ground running on Aug 12th. We also want to see the players express themselves, and put into practice the things we work on on the training ground every week. Last night, I was really pleased with a number of performances and the work ethic of every player involved. We are still trying to bring a few more players to add to the squad. To date, we have signed around 14 players, with a couple of players keeping their options open – with a desire to play at a higher level.
Tomorrow, we play Horsham FC at Lancing. It gives me another chance to give 1st team players more minutes, and an opportunity to look at a few more trialists who have been training with us.
Finally, I’m delighted to announce Will Miles as club captain. Will has had a couple of difficult seasons, with regards to injury but he has worked hard and is looking the fittest I’ve ever seen him. I think it’s excellent that a former Burgess Hill Town youth team captain is now leading our 1st team.
