“Football can be a cruel game sometimes. This season we have broken the season down into ten fixtures at a time. We had 12, 15, 12 points in the first thirty games respectively, and this current block of ten we have four points, with one game to play. What has been most evident, is we have been 2 goals up in two of these games and come away with 1 point. Add the Canvey away result, where we were a goal up and came away with nothing, it has been a very frustrating sequence of games.
On top of that, and I’m not being unrealistic when I say, that against Bognor at home and last night against Harlow we have have been unlucky. After lasts night loss to Harlow, the players, myself and my staff probably feel a little bit sorry for ourselves – BUT between now and Saturday we must put it to one side, pull together and get ready for a massive game at home to fellow strugglers, Kingstonian FC.
We haven’t been in form result wise, but I don’t think we are playing poorly, and when you see there are only 6 points between the 2nd bottom and 9th from bottom, it’s all to play for. I honestly feel we are good enough to survive and in my head, I have a points total I feel we need – BUT it is a case of one game at a time.
Saturday is Ryman Community Day, so hopefully, we will have a bumper crowd getting behind the team. The support this year has been fantastic and it’s great for the players knowing that our supporters are right behind the team. The players, staff and everyone at the club must keep giving everything we have in these final seven games to finish outside the bottom four.”
